There are many MMORPG’s the market, especially when it comes to Aeria games. They are among several companies that serve as a sort of MMORPG factory, spitting out just as many as they can in a given year. When I started to take a look at Aura Kingdom I was a bit suspicious. After all, there are so many anime style games out there, most of which have either failed miserably, or have employed the use of psychological tactics to ensure that people pay for the extras. Well, I’m not going to say that Aura Kingdoms doesn’t have a cash shop, but it at LEAST has the fun gameplay to back up the player’s investment. So, should you spend some time in Aura Kingdom, or will the entire thing be a bust? We have to say absolutely yes.

 

Aura Kingdom is a free-to-play open world MMORPG that uses a targeted combat system. You have eight characters to choose from: Guardian, Duelist, Ravager, Wizard, Sorcerer, Bard, Grenadier and Gunslinger. You have a primary weapon early game and you will later get to choose a secondary weapon that you can switch to as you progress. Having experienced plenty of action-based systems, I was worried I would get bored with the game’s targeted system. However, combat in Aura Kingdom is different. It allows the player to move around while attacking the targeted enemy, and this allowed me to dodge enemy skills while continuing with my attack. The targeted system allowed me to get the action I craved in spite of its limitations, which is definitely a plus in my books.

 

In terms of costuming, there aren't many examples of metal bikinis, although female player characters with the same costume or gear as male characters tend to wind up partially sleeveless and almost always wearing a mini-skirt and thigh-high boots instead of pants, and often showing their midriff. One curious thing about the sound effects is that there is a noise when you click buttons, particularly in maneuvering through quest dialogue boxes, that sounds exactly like my phone's default incoming text sound. It was a bit distracting and I kept looking at my phone during my review times. During gameplay, dialogue boxes can be all text, or often they're also text and a picture of both characters having the dialogue, acting out some portion of the commentary with a few different emotes.

 

Sometimes there are a few problems with the animations, but nothing out of the ordinary, as you get accustomed with the style quite nicely. As you would expect the game comes with a good character creation tool that showcases the diversity of this large anime world. I was able to change the appearance of my character in many ways, and that was definitely something that I appreciate right from the start. Aura Kingdom does a great job in bringing you close to a dozen classes to choose from, and the best thing about it is you will see the difference in battle, it’s not just a simple design decision. Customizing my character took a few minutes, but if you want in-depth modifications to his look you can easily do that too.

 

Aura Kingdom is an anime inspired 3D fantasy MMORPG where players form pacts with powerful spirits called Eidolons. Set in the verdant world of Azuria, Aura Kingdom is a bright, beautiful game that offers plenty of class and skill options. The game presents rather than a usual class system, a system based on the weapon players may use, resulting in eight classes to choose from, but along the way they are able to select a secondary weapon normally wielded by one of the remaining classes. Each weapon provides unique skills that are unlocked automatically step by step upon reaching higher levels. With every new level, players are also able to put points into a passive skill tree that differs between classes.

 

The best part of Aura Kingdom though is the Eidolons which act as advanced pets. In addition to fighting alongside you players can send them on errands and even use them as mounts. They’ll grow separately from your own character and because this system has a good amount of depth it creates more class options as you mix and match Eidolons with your own skill setup. If you prefer your MMOs to be anime themed or want something with a little more action to its combat then the depth of Aura Kingdom makes it one of the best options around.
