- Paid Character Transfers are now available for players in WoW Classic

Blizzard has made WoW Classic paid character transfers available now on both the US and European realms. Earlier this month, Blizzard released WoW Classic patch 1.13.3 which unlocked the WSG and AV battlegrounds. Burried in the patch notes however, was the reference to support for future paid character transfers. Fast forward one week and Blizzard has now enabled the service for those looking to transfer their character to a different server within their region. Available for $25/€25 (the same price as paid transfers on the retail Battle for Azeroth realms) the service does come with some limitations.

Blizzard has tried to make it seem like players aren’t fleeing PvP servers that are too strongly favored towards one faction, particularly the Horde. On the WoW Classic Paid Character Transfer page, it says, “Every World of Warcraft realm is home to its own unique community of players.” As if exploring a different community was a good enough reason to drop $25.

Paid Character Transfers are now available for players in WoW Classic who are looking to relocate their characters to a different realm within their region. There are a few things to keep in mind before you take the leap into making a home on a new realm.

    Each transfer has a ninety-day cooldown.
    Gold transfer limits specific level ranges are as follows:
        Level 1-30 can transfer with up to 100 gold
        Level 31-50 can transfer with up to 500 gold
        Level 51-60 can transfer with up to 2000 gold
    Characters cannot transfer from PvE realms to PvP Realms and RP realms cannot transfer to RP-PvP realms.

But WoW players are largely leaving because they’re getting camped by the opposing faction. Leveling has been frustrating, to put it politely. Blizzard could have stepped in and kept the realms balanced, punishing those who abuse the Honor System. Instead, they’ve seen an opportunity to make some money, and they’ve taken it with both claws.

It makes sense why character transfers are being implemented into World of Warcraft Classic. As someone who played during that launch period, trying to get a whole guild of friends to join the same server was a mess. Blizzard was not necessarily at fault, but I’m not quite sure if their projections on how many people would actually be interested were off.
