- Animal Crossing may be introducing barista bird and Brewster in an upcoming update

As Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans begin hitting the endgame for their islands, there's already chatter about what comes next. Now, sparked by references from the game's own animal characters, there's speculation two classic locations from earlier Animal Crossing games could return. The first is the coffee shop, run by cooing barista pigeon Brewster. The second is the art gallery portion of the museum, which you fill with (hopefully not fake) masterpieces procured by a shady fox named Red.

When asked to chat, Fang brings up a curious topic. Fang says, "Can't say much about art... But I like that there's some in the museum here for me to gawk at." Fang goes on to describe how they fake being interested in the art, but what's most important is that Animal Crossing: New Horizons' museum doesn't actually feature an art gallery.

The museum in Animal Crossing: New Horizons currently features three wings. There's a wing for displaying fossils, as well as a wing each for live fish and bug displays, but there's currently no way to unlock additional wings, for art galleries or otherwise. If Fang's right, though, an art gallery addition to the Museum may be in the works. And if you want to buy Animal Crossing Bells, visit, a professional online in-game currency store.

Animal Crossing, Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf all featured paintings, with the 3DS game also adding sculptures to the collectible category. Redd the fox was the main method of finding art pieces to donate to the gallery in the Museum, though there was a chance for the painting to be a forgery. He doesn’t have stellar credentials, so to speak.

All of this has led many to think that either a major update is coming or perhaps a paid-for expansion pack, such as most modern Nintendo games have received on the Switch. As was noticed before launch, New Horizons is listed as containing ‘in-game purchases’ and yet there’s none in the game as it is at the moment.Exactly how this is going to work isn’t clear, but Nintendo are clearly building up to something and it’s possible more might be revealed with the next in-game event on Earth Day, 22 April.
